Four world-renowned harpsichordists on antique collection instruments
During early August, the Smithsonian Chamber Music Society and the Westfield 2012 International Harpsichord Competition and Academy present four members of the Academy faculty and Competition jury in a series of recitals featuring historical harpsichords from the Smithsonian Collection.
Saturday, 4 August: Arthur Haas (SUNY Stony Brook) performs works of Rameau, Duphly, Forqueray, and Balbastre
Sunday 5 August: Mitzi Meyerson (Akademie der Künste, Berlin) presents music of Louis, François, and Armand-Louis Couperin
Saturday 11 August: Charlotte Mattax Moersch (University of Illinois) plays works of Johann Sebastian Bach
Sunday 12 August: Davitt Moroney (University of California, Berkeley) performs music of William Byrd, Henry Purcell, Louis Couperin, and Louis Marchand
The concerts will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the Hall of Musical Instruments of the National Museum of American History, 12th St. at Constitution Ave, NW, Washington, DC. Metro: Federal Triangle. Parking is available on the street. Tickets are free, but reservations are required, and can be made by calling (202) 633-3621 after July 1st.
