Joseph Gascho & Kenneth Slowik, harpsichord and viola da gamba
In the first half of this all-Bach program. three recent Smithsonian Haydn Quartet Academy fellows pair with SCMS director Kenneth Slowik for the Three Sonatas for Harpsichord and Viola da Gamba, BWV 1027-1029. After the intermission, Slowik is joined by University of Michigan harpsichord professor Joseph Gascho, who curates the Stearns Collection of Musical Instruments at that institution, for the Concerto in C Major for Two Harpsichords, BWV 1061. The Ricercar à 6 from the Musical Offering, BWV 1079, played on a consort of viols, concludes the concert.
